Perry Seelert (L) and Mark Dickinson of Emerge Strategic Solutions to speak at WMU’s Food Marketing Conference
“Being unremarkable if you are a retailer or CPG today is a death sentence. Knowing your DNA and expressing it poignantly is the key to your success,” says Perry Seelert, strategic partner of Emerge Strategic Solutions, who, along with managing partner Mark Dickinson, will present “Being Remarkable” at Western Michigan University’s Food Marketing Conference, March 16-17, at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, Kalamazoo, Mich.

“Our goal in the presentation is to stimulate retailers to think about their place in the world distinctly and provide a new perspective on trends like the need-for-speed and the virtues of simplicity,” says Seelert. Emerge is a strategic management consultancy dedicated to helping retailers, manufacturers and service providers differentiate their brands, customer experiences and go-to-market approaches with more power, meaning and action.

The Being Remarkable presentation will focus on four key learnings:

The 10 key trends that affect all consumers, brands and suppliers and provoke the question of whether a company is leading, following or not paying attention.
Emerge will give new perspective on the need for speed and the need to rethink marketing investments.
Emerge will define the important hurdles involved in moving from unremarkable to remarkable.
Emerge will talk about a company’s “voice” – a voice that is verbal, visual structural and experiential, and the need to connect all the layers.
Being Remarkable aims “to move you from following to leading, from average to a one-percenter, and provoke you to look in the mirror anew,” says Seelert.

The annual WMU Food Marketing Conference, marking its 50th year, brings leading retail and CPG speakers to share the latest developments in the food and CPG industries. More than 600 industry executives will attend what is projected to be a sold-out event. In addition to providing attendees with effective leadership strategies, tips for building strong company cultures, and provoking presentations from retail and organizational visionaries, the event supports scholarships and unique educational experiences for students enrolled in WMU’s acclaimed Food Marketing program.
